The raw material value of milk for the month of June falls for the first time in a long time and falls by 0,8 cents compared to May. The reason for this is the slightly lower prices for butter and skimmed milk powder. Sales of dairy products also declined slightly.
This is the conclusion of the Institut für Ernährungswissenschaft (IfE) in Kiel. The raw material price for May was 66,6 cents per kilo of milk - which in retrospect can be seen as the provisional record. For June, 0,8 cents will be deducted and the value will be 65,8 cents per kilo.
This is still well above the milk price charged by the average dairy farmer, especially in the North German dairy. However, the raw material price (Rohstofwert) is based on the spot quotations for butter and skimmed milk powder and is therefore higher than what processors can pay out.
With a price of 65,8 cents per kilo, the raw material value is still 28,3 cents above the raw material value of June 2021.
