Boerenbusiness presents the Agribusiness Award for the fourth time this year. The prize for companies with an innovative product or new service with a financial advantage for the farmer. Last year's winner is the Lely Sphere. How has this product fared in the past year?
Over the past year, Lely has mainly been refining the process. According to Romy van Aalst, product specialist at Lely, the Sphere itself is completely ready and Lely is ready for it. "We are ready to install the Sphere throughout the Netherlands and thereby also solve part of the nitrogen problem. Together with our competitors, of course. We simply notice that the market is still waiting for the choices that have to come from The Hague. ."
Twenty installations are currently active in the Netherlands. Lely hopes to receive approximately eighty additional orders before the end of this year. "Growth depends on the clarity and the future perspective that farmers are waiting for. In addition, a project is underway to get the separated mineral flows approved as a fertilizer substitute. If that comes through, it will also become a lot more interesting for the farmers." , said Van Aalst.
Contribution to awareness
Lely does not regret taking part in the Agribusiness Award. "Participating has generated a lot of awareness and positive reactions from all quarters. It has also created a good vibe internally. Of course we have a lot of employees, so something like this has a positive influence on what we are doing. company, but also if you want to put your product on the map as a start-up, then this is a very nice way to get started."
One of the components of the process is a pitch for the jury. "I think this was the most exciting part of all. You can prepare it reasonably, but then it depends on the knowledge of the jury which questions you get. We were really positively surprised by the knowledge of the jury. We quickly went into the depths of what we really liked. It was just great fun. A pitch like this brings you new ideas and keeps you sharp."
