Rabobank extends 10% more loans in agri sector

Rabobank's loan portfolio increased by €15,4 billion to €432,6 billion in the first half of the year. The Food & Agri sector therefore remains an important market for the bank, according to the half-year figures presented by the bank today (Thurs 11 August).

Rabobank's Food & Agri loan portfolio grew by 10% to €113,2 billion. Food & Agri has a share of 26% of the total loan portfolio of the bank. Of this amount, €39,3 billion is outstanding domestically and €73,9 billion abroad. Domestic growth compared to 2021 is at Wholesale & Rural: consumer foods (both production, distribution and wholesale), fresh produce (wholesale) and sugar and grain production.

Loans to companies in commodities (agricultural commodities) are the largest category within the Bank's Food & Agri portfolio at €32 billion. This is followed by animal protein (animal protein) and dairy (milk) with €23 and €20 billion respectively. Farm inputs are in seventh place with €11 billion in outstanding loans.
