Dutch agribusiness does not allow itself to be distracted by all the political discussions about the usefulness and necessity of innovations in the agricultural sector. The innovative power is a must. Boerenbusiness has recently received many registrations of technical progress for the annual Agribusiness Awards. This is the prize for Dutch agribusiness with innovative products or services that provide a financial benefit to the farmer.
In total, the editors of Boerenbusiness 28 applications may receive from companies and organizations that compete with their product or service for this recognition for their achievement. That is 2 more than last year. And that is special, says Eric de Lijster, editor-in-chief of Boerenbusiness.nl in a comment. "The entrepreneurial climate for Dutch agribusiness over the past year can be said to be challenging, including all the challenges after, for example, the corona pandemic, the volatility on the agricultural markets and the very uncertain political climate, which makes the future prospects for livestock farmers in particular uncertain. Then it is wonderful to see that the agricultural business community continues to focus fully on sustainable innovations with which agricultural entrepreneurs can improve their returns."
Solution-oriented
It is precisely this creativity and ingenuity that is why Boerenbusiness created the Award. It shows the resilience of the sector and provides inspiration and motivation for others to get started as well. For example, innovations in the field of sustainable crop protection, improving animal welfare, limiting nitrogen emissions or refining fertilization can be found in the registrations.
Now that the registration period is closed, it is to the independent jury led by Aalt Dijkhuizen to select the nominees. "It is fantastic that so many applications have been received for the Agribusiness Award, and also across all sectors. The Dutch agri and food sector has become a global leader thanks to an unwavering commitment to innovations. It is more important than ever to maintain this position and continue to develop."
Pitching
The jury will select 3 to 5 finalists from the entries. These finalists will be announced on October 27. The nominees will have the opportunity to personally explain their submission to the jury. After these presentations, the jury finally takes the plunge and chooses the winner. The Agribusiness Award will be presented on Thursday 24 November at ABN Amro in Amsterdam. The previous winners of the Award are CowManager (2019) Limagrain Netherlands (2020) in Lely (2021)
