According to the NewMob Foundation, RIVM must again measure the state of acidification and eutrophication in nature reserves. Until 2014, the TrendMeasuring Network Acidification. Moreover, this should be done with the accuracy as required by the Nature Protection Act (Wnb).
The NewMob Foundation writes this in a letter to Minister for Nature and Nitrogen Christianne van der Wal. NewMob is committed to preserving the Dutch Natural and Cultural Landscape and to good management and preservation of the characteristic Dutch flora and fauna, she reports.
NewMob is very concerned about 'the careless way' in which Van der Wal's ministry 'developed and enacted nitrogen policy on the basis of models, without factual substantiation and factual investigations,' according to the foundation.
With reference to the recent decision of the Council of State on low-emission barns, the foundation argues that models about emissions and effects on nature do not provide sufficient certainty and therefore cannot provide adequate and fact-based protection for nature and fauna. According to NewMob, Aerius is therefore not sufficient, and indicators based on it such as the Critical Deposition Value (KDW) would not be good yardsticks either.
NewMob also asks Van der Wal to have the management carried out by site management organizations (TBOs) assessed by an independent research party, 'whereby no current and/or past
connections with the current TBOs'.
NewMob is generally critical of Van der Wal's nitrogen policy. The letter is co-signed by the Nitrogen Claim Foundation.
