The German Ministry of Agriculture (BMEL) announces two aid packages for agriculture. An amount of €180 million should keep the German agricultural sector going.
The aid is intended for companies that are hit hard by the rising prices of animal feed, energy and manure. According to the ministry, 40% of loss-making companies can keep their heads above water with the package. Companies are entitled to a maximum amount of €15.000. The aid package is not completely unconditional, because only companies that received an EU subsidy for environmentally friendly agriculture in 2021 are entitled to the scheme. The packages will be distributed before the end of September.
The combined value of the aid packages is €180 million. The EU pays about €60 million of this and the German ministry contributes about €120 million. A specific amount has been reserved for each sector. On the website of the BMEL there is a table with the amounts per sector.
