They are now everywhere in the Netherlands: the weather stations of AgroExact. In two years, the number of locations has grown rapidly by more than four hundred. A milestone according to Sven Boogaard, co-founder of AgroExact. "Almost all decisions regarding cultivation depend on the local weather. Then a normal weather app based on the 34 KNMI measuring points is not useful. That is simply not local enough for many decisions, so we saw that this had to be improved. We are very proud that this has now been achieved and that local weather information is now available throughout the Netherlands via our weather app."
To achieve this, AgroExact decided to invest in its own extensive network. "The weather does not stop at the plot boundaries. Why then should we start selling a weather station to each individual company? That costs the sector much more money than necessary. And besides, the farmer is not the only one who benefits from good meteorological data. However, we saw that many revenue models rely solely on the farmer. That farmers had to purchase sensors to collect data and the manufacturer then also sells this data to third parties without the farmer being rewarded for this. We wanted to approach this differently."
"We use a business model in which the full bill is not placed with the farmer, but he only pays his share for the use of the data. An additional advantage for the farmer is that this approach is accompanied by good service. AgroExact monitors all data for quality and intervenes where necessary. This saves a lot of hassle with hardware for the farmer."
This means that precipitation, wind, temperature and humidity are always measured reliably within 10 kilometers for every business location in the Netherlands. "But because precipitation is increasingly local, we don't want to leave it at this". Every new subscriber to the agricultural weather app can now opt for a free advanced digital rain gauge for the farm. Subscriptions start from €195 per year, whereby each user can choose the measurement locations that are most relevant to their own company. And the extra rain gauge is made available by AgroExact free of charge, including a warranty for as long as the subscription runs. If something breaks, a new one will be delivered, so that the measurements are always correct.

In addition to the local weather service, AgroExact also offers extensions specifically for cultivation. Soil moisture sensors for precise irrigation, which were rated with a 9,2 by the Wageningen University. The CropExact crop sensor that maps the microclimate and various links with decision support systems such as AgroWeer, Agrovision and Dacom, for an optimization of crop protection.
Now that national coverage has been achieved, Boogaard is confident in the future. "National coverage is accompanied by increasing awareness, AgroExact has conquered its place in the market. But the most important thing is the high use of the app and the satisfied users, which gives a lot of confidence." Find out more about the solution .
