Noord-Brabant should not only give livestock farmers more time to apply for a new stable permit. The date until which barn adjustments can be made must also be postponed. This is the opinion of CDA member of parliament Tanja van de Ven.
She will therefore submit a motion on Friday 16 December to postpone the deadline. She does this because the Provincial Executive announced earlier this week that only the period for submitting a permit will be extended.
Don't ask for a permit that you won't get anyway
Van de Ven finds this strange and also illogical. "There must first be clarity and perspective. What good is more time for applying for a permit if you know you won't get it anyway? That's why we want to lend a helping hand to the Provincial Executive and ask for more time to adjust the stole yourself. That's only logical, isn't it?"
No RAV code, no handout
Despite the lack of clarity, Van de Ven does foresee an exciting debate in the states. The barn adjustments are a loaded subject. Moreover, the CDA is also part of the provincial coalition, but according to her politicians cannot demand the impossible. "There is not yet a RAV code with which entrepreneurs can comply with the law, there is not yet a guide, there is nothing yet."
According to Van de Ven, livestock farmers are quite willing to balance their interests with those of nature and the environment, but that will not be possible if only 4 months are left for the actual barn adjustments.
