Milk price Arla falls fastest, DOC first below €40

31 May 2023 - Klaas van der Horst

Where FrieslandCampina kept the milk price stable for June, Arla and DOC Kaas both took a step down. With the basic milk price, DOC is the first in the Netherlands to fall below €40,00 per 100 kilos.

This is evident from the milk prices announced by both cooperatives. The current milk price of Arla has fallen by €2,17 per 100 kilos to a minimum of €41,80 per 100 kilos. At DOC Kaas, the current milk price has been reduced to €38,95 per 100 kilos. This is the price excluding VAT, with an annual supply of 1 million kilos.

However, the average DOC member continues to receive above €40,00, because the meadow milk price is €40,70 per 100 kilos and the maximum milk price (including Vlog compensation) is still €1,00 higher, according to the Boerenbusiness milk price comparator.

Arla also lowered the organic milk price for June by €2,24 per 100 kilo cents. With a price of €58,44, it is still the best paying party in this segment. FrieslandCampina lowered the organic milk price by €1,24 to €50,98 per 100 kilos.
