Agribusiness Award celebrates its fifth anniversary

June 12, 2023 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

Boerenbusiness, the online platform for top entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector, is presenting the Agribusiness Award for the fifth time this year. Also this anniversary year, we cordially invite companies from the Dutch agribusiness to register for the Agribusiness Award from 12 June 2023 with their innovation in product, service or business process.

Boerenbusiness wants to highlight the innovative power of Dutch agribusiness with the Agribusiness Award. Any company with an innovative product, service or business process can register. There are, however, some important conditions. For example, the invention must provide a proven financial advantage for the Dutch farmer or market gardener and the entry must be relatively new, but must have already been launched on the market.

The previous winners of the Agribusiness Award are Andela Techniek & Innovatie (2022), Lely (2021), Limagrain Nederland (2020) and CowManager (2019). The jury emphasizes that every year starts with a clean slate, which means that companies that have participated in recent years, but have not won, can also register again. Every year the jury receives a large number of excellent applications, but sometimes they are submitted too early and are not yet ready for practical use. As a result, the jury cannot nominate the application. The jury would like to see these contenders again the following year. This also applies to previously submitted innovations in which something has been changed or improved, according to the jury chairman.

Professional jury chooses the winner
In addition to the Award itself, the winner of the Agribusiness Award will receive a media package worth €6.500 to spend at Boerenbusiness† ABN AMRO likes to emphasize the importance of innovation and is committed to the Award. The bank supports the winner in the follow-up process with knowledge, expertise and network in the field of innovation for an extra push towards the future.

The winner is chosen by a jury led by Aalt Dijkhuizen. According to Dijkhuizen, the sector is far too modest when it comes to drawing attention to innovations. "Smart, new developments take place every day in the Dutch agri and food sector. However, we are not the sector that immediately announces this," says Dijkhuizen. In his experience, innovations in agribusiness too often remain out of the picture. "That is a pity, especially when the entire sector can benefit from it. This can have a commercial approach, but it can also contribute to the sector's positive image. In short, every reason to offer interesting products or services. report for the Agribusiness Award of Boerenbusiness."

'The Agribusiness Award is intended as an appreciation for a company that is able to achieve financial benefits with a new product or service for Dutch agricultural entrepreneurs in livestock farming and arable farming,' says Eric de Lijster, editor-in-chief of Boerenbusiness.NL. 'For companies that inspire and take the sector to a higher level with their innovative strength, sustainability and social commitment.'
