While Vion left the quotation untouched earlier this week, the other slaughterhouses in the Netherlands are increasing. Van Rooi and Westfort follow the now somewhat weakened German market the most.
Na Vion's statement the question was how the other Dutch slaughterhouses would mutate. Increases were nevertheless likely, because the situation that has arisen gives slaughterhouses the opportunity to distinguish themselves from each other. With a drying up pig supply, full slaughter hooks are currently a challenging exercise and a penny more or less can already make a difference.
Van Rooi is at the forefront of raising and adds €0,05. Westfort raises €0,03 this week, but did something extra last week. Compaxo is taking it a little easier with an increase of €0,04, but it is participating in the rising market. The next increase in a row is not foreseen for the trendsetting German pig price. The VEZG quotation has remained at €2,43 per kilo today.
Viewed over the past few weeks, the VEZG quote rose 10 cents. With an increase of 8 cents, Van Rooi and Westfort remain well on track with the German market.
