NB onions

22 August 2024 - Jesse Torringa

Good afternoon,

The dark clouds are not yet disappearing from the onion market. The supply of plant onions is fully in control and is putting further pressure on the grower prices of both plant and seed onions. Trade remains very tame, while some growers are getting a bit nervous about the harvest period. The bale price at the sorters and exporters is also taking a step back again this week. The mood among them is improving somewhat. Export is starting to take shape and orders are increasing for the coming weeks, while African destinations are increasingly knocking on the door. Another bright spot this week was found at the stock exchange in Emmeloord, where a quotation for red seed onions appeared on the board that was above expectations.

Have a nice evening and a nice weekend.
