'The Valtra G 125 Active is a super tractor for me'

Gerrit Bonestroo already knew for sure after a month: "This is a super tractor for my company." He really likes his Valtra G 125 Active with front loader. "It is manoeuvrable and compact and the overview from the cab is really good. I am very satisfied with it."

"If I had had to choose myself, the tractor might have become a bit more sober. But I can get used to luxury," laughs Gerrit Bonestroo. The livestock farmer from Oosterwolde in Gelderland (near Elburg) bought a Valtra G 2023 Active demo tractor from dealer Schoonhoven in the same village at the beginning of 125. His Valtra N 93 (which was already the third of the Finnish brand on his farm) was seven years old, it was due for a service and new front tires needed. Bonestroo traded in the tractor and immediately ordered a new front loader for the G 125. This machine plays an important role on his livestock farm. Gerrits 95 dairy cows are given a varied menu and he scoops all components into the feed mixer twice a day with the front loader. Bonestroo: "The G 125 is a great tractor for a front loader. It is very manoeuvrable, turns nicely short and the operation with the joystick on the armrest is a pleasure. And the view from the cab on the front loader is also excellent." That the Valtra G 125 with front loader is a real all-rounder on Bonestroo's farm is also evident from all the attachments he uses. In addition to a pelican bucket, it has a bale clamp, a straw bale spike, a rubber yard scraper and a separate shovel bucket.

Got gears
At the time of the interview, the front loader has been disconnected for a while because a large mowing job is on the program. "Fortunately, coupling and uncoupling is easy," says Bonestroo. With the arrival of the new Valtra, his mowing capacity immediately doubled because the farmer invested in a young, used front mower. “A front linkage with PTO was definitely on my wish list,” he says. "But the demo tractor had much more. I now have cab suspension and front axle suspension. This allowed me to have slightly stiffer front tires mounted that wear less quickly. The loss of comfort is amply compensated for by the sprung front axle and cab."

Another important item on Gerrit's wish list was ease of use. "I have some wear on one knee, so it's nice that I can now shift without clutching. The tractor has plenty of gears anyway. It even has a crawler," he grins. The spacious entry and the rotatable air-suspended seat also ensure that Gerrit does not have to strain his knee unnecessarily while working with the Valtra.

Nice cabin
Bonestroo concludes with a compliment for the good view of machines behind the tractor. "Valtra has done that well. You sit nice and close, which is easy when coupling. And you have a lot of space in the cabin. So you don't suffer from a stuffy feeling." His son-in-law and the trainee are also making progress with the Valtra and endorse Gerrit's positive experience. "They started about the good visibility themselves. And they think, like me, that it drives nice and smooth."
