Food group Cosun has received permission from the Dutch competition authority ACM to sell its business unit SVZ to the Döhler Group. According to the cartel watchdog, no license is required for the transfer of this company, which specializes in fruit and vegetable ingredients. Cosun had already announced this transaction a few weeks ago.
An acquisition price has not been disclosed. SVZ had been in the shop window of the cooperative food group from Breda for quite some time. The company no longer fits in with the new strategy that Cosun has deployed under CEO Hans Meeuwis (photo), called Unlock 25. In this strategy, Cosun mainly focuses on the processing and valorization of arable crops and co-products. The company also focuses on the development and sale of vegetable proteins.
Cosun previously indicated that it hopes that the transaction will be completed before 31 August. With ACM's approval, this goal seems within reach.
