New soil scanning service INTERRA® Scan

21 August 2023

INTERRA®Scan visualizes your soil with a very high resolution in a maximum of 27 layers. You will learn everything about soil texture, nutrients, pH value, organic matter content, carbon properties and water holding capacity of your plots. In addition to the soil scan, soil samples are taken at specific, strategic locations. In combination with the scan, INTERRA®Scan processes more than 800 data points per hectare.

INTERRA®Scan is a service. Someone from Syngenta will visit you and scan your plot. The scan can be performed under different conditions, independent of the cover, soil moisture, compaction or cultivation conditions. Ideally, of course, after harvest or in winter. The scanning technique uses a gamma ray scanner. The scanner makes it possible to map the top layers of your soil with an extremely high resolution with a total of 27 parameters:
P, K, Mg, pH, Sand, Loam, Clay, Loam/Clay Fraction Texture, Altitude Organic Matter, Plant Available Water, Calcium, Manganese, Sodium, Boron, Copper, Molybdenum, Iron, Zinc, Sulfur CEC, Total Carbon and Active carbon.

Platform
The parameters of your field in combination with the data points become visible in cartographic maps. There is the possibility to access a digital INTERRA®Scan platform for a detailed analysis and interpretation of the soil health of your plots. Depending on your objective, task or dose maps are created that are compatible with the most common control systems of your precision machines. You can make informed decisions about what and where to apply and most importantly how much.

For example, the dose of fertilizer can be adjusted as closely as possible to the needs of your plots. Or the sowing density can be adjusted to the heterogeneity of your plot.

With better detailed knowledge of your soil, you can optimize soil health. If you have a healthy soil, you lay the foundation for a healthy crop.
