There is an (agricultural) billionaire in the Quote 500: Kees Meijer (74) who sold his company Meijer Frozen Foods for €700 million to Lamb Weston. As a result, Meijer disappeared from the name of the potato giant after 28 years, but Kees Meijer has risen from number 1 to 102 with a fortune of €49 billion.
A newcomer to the Quote 500 is Egbert Kruiswijk (61), who owns half of Westfort Vleesproducten. His assets are estimated by Quote at €145 million, which puts him at 436th place. Jan Pieter Dalsem from greenhouse construction, who made his debut last year and was the bottom of the list for agriculture and horticulture with €125 million, is now already outside the boat. Jan van den Heuvel of fruit and vegetable wholesaler HillFresh, who was in 431st place last year with a capital of €135 million, also disappears from the list.
Richest even richer
Wijnand Pon, who partly amassed his wealth in dairy and cattle breeding and also in the car and bicycle industry, is still at the top of the list of the richest agricultural entrepreneurs. He has even become a lot richer and saw his wealth increase by more than half from €2,7 billion in 2022 to €4,1 billion this year. As a result, he rises from ninth to sixth place in the Quote 500.
After this we find another climber: John Fentener from Vlissingen (including animal feed) who, just like in 2022, climbs one place to now end up in twelfth place. His wealth has increased slightly to €2,4 billion. The other SHV members Annemieke, Cisca and Marthe van Vlissingen had a separate ranking last year, but are now together at 34e place. Brother Harold, who was also on the list, has passed away. Alicia and Tannetta Fentener van Vlissingen are now also jointly on the list, as are their cousins Nicole, Robert Jan and Brigitte Fentener van Vlissingen.
Peter Koppert (crop protection) passed away in July at the age of 73. He was on the list last year together with brother Paul with €145 million, but he is not wealthy enough for a listing.
Richest families
There is little movement in the list of the richest families. The De Heus animal feed family remains in fifth place with €1,9 billion, followed by the Van Drie (meat, 8th place) and Kloosterboer (cold storage, 17th) families with €1,4 billion and €900 million respectively.
