Trade organization ZuivelNL has slightly more to spend in the coming year than for 2023, although the contribution now remains the same. The extra money can be used to finance more new activities. The organization also benefits from a tax refund and lower costs.
In total, almost €12 million can be spent for the new year, the organization reports. This is €700.000 more than this year. The money will be spent on new research and investments in data solutions, among other things. The new research focuses, among other things, on the usefulness of milk urea as a benchmark for feed efficiency and emissions from dairy cattle.
Despite the larger spending capacity, there is still a small deficit in the balance of benefits and costs due to new activities and higher costs under the heading of animal health and animal welfare.
However, it can be easily absorbed because there is a one-off benefit of €3,8 million due to a VAT refund for the years 2020 to 2022. This required a number of the supporting organizations to change their articles of association. This led to heated discussions in 2021, but this point has now been resolved. In addition, €2 million in other expense reductions have been recorded.
In addition to new research, millions are also being allocated, on a multi-year basis, for the construction of a new, joint database as a successor to both Koemonitor and Medirund.
