Man arrested over Maas van den Heuvel's death

The police arrested a 28-year-old man from Curaçao today (Thursday, December 22) during a house search in Schiedam, ANP reports. The man is suspected of involvement in the death of Maas van den Heuvel.

The police searched several buildings in Kampen and two homes in Schiedam. The searches were carried out following a violent robbery earlier this month in Epe. Van den Heuvel's lifeless body was found in his home in Kampen on October 18. There were indications of a crime and the police deployed a large investigation team on the case.

Van den Heuvel was a well-known face in the agricultural sector. For example, he was active for many years as secretary and discussion leader of the Association of Agricultural Fair North and Central Netherlands and chairman of the Cumela Fertilizers Committee.
