Duynie Feed starts selling pressed pulp today (Monday, May 13) with a price of €2,15 per percent dry matter per tonne. This makes the price a lot lower than last year when pressed pulp cost €2,35 per percent dry matter.
Pre-sales of Cigarant (natural product based on chicory roots) have also started at Duynie. The price quotation is €2,00 per percent dry matter. The presale for both products runs until Friday, May 31, 2024 (12:00 noon) or while supplies last, Duynie said in a press release.
Pressed pulp serves, among other things, as animal feed for dairy cattle, sheep and goats, you can read on the Duynie website. It is a product that is created in the production process from sugar beets to sugar. After sugar beets are cut into thin strips and their sugar is removed from scalding troughs filled with warm water, nutritious animal feed remains after pressing: pressed pulp.
Duynie writes that pressed pulp ensures speed in the ration and, among other things, it reduces the risk of rumen acidification. Pressed pulp can be used as a moisture-rich concentrate, or as a supplement to an incomplete roughage supply. Press pulp is a constant product, Duynie continues. The quality remains relatively stable over time and is easy to ensile, without leaking juices into the environment.
