ForFarmers will take over Van Triest Veevoeders. The listed animal feed company announced this on Saturday afternoon. With the acquisition, ForFarmers accelerates the use of residual flows in feed. This course was given priority in the revised strategy last year.
Family business Van Triest is one of the larger players in our country in the sale of residual flows such as spent grains and pressed pulp. The company sells approximately 1 million tons annually to 3.500 livestock farmers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Van Triest is also active in the roughage trade. In 2022, turnover amounted to more than €78 million.
The acquisition includes the transshipment facilities and transport fleet. The acquisition sum is not disclosed, but it has been announced that the amount will be transferred entirely in cash. The deal is expected to be completed this fall. The current management of Van Triest remains actively involved in the new constellation.
'Making the food chain more sustainable'
ForFarmers CEO Pieter Wolleswinkel is pleased with the acquisition. "By bundling our activities, we can serve our customers even better. In addition, we are taking a further step in making the food chain more sustainable."
The acquisition underlines ForFarmers' ambitions to scale up the sale of residual flows. A new division was set up for this purpose last year called CirQlar. The last major acquisition of ForFarmers on the Dutch market dated back to 2021. That was when De Hoop compound feeders were incorporated. Subsequently, acquisitions were made in Poland and the United Kingdom and it was decided to divest the activities in Belgium.
