Compound feed prices for both cattle and pigs became more expensive in June for the second month in a row, according to data from Wageningen Economic Research (WER).
The price of A-brok rose €3,50 to €310 per tonne in June. The quotation for pork chunks increased by €5 to €298,50 per tonne. Other pig and cattle feeds also rose in price.
Increased wheat price
The increase can be attributed to higher raw material prices. In May, wheat prices rose sharply to just €270 per tonne. In the meantime, a large part of that increase has been canceled out and the Matif is trading slightly above the price of €220 per tonne. This is still higher than the level at which wheat was in April (a few euros above €200 per tonne). There was also a strong recovery in the physical wheat market, but this was also followed by a correction. Corn and barley swayed on the same wavelength.
Compound feed price indicator
It is therefore not expected that pellet prices will see any major price increases in the coming months, as is also evident from the compound feed price indicator for both fattening pigs- as a-brok. It is true that weather conditions at this time of year have a major influence on the commodity markets.
