It seems as if the unrest in the roughage market has spread from silage maize to straw, because the concerns about silage maize have now calmed down somewhat. Straw prices are rising considerably. Beer spent grain is also increasing in price and moving with the market.
The DCA Indicative Price for silage maize drops slightly to €95 per tonne. The mood is quieter. Contributors indicate that there will be 'something' with the new harvest. There's a chance it won't turn out too bad after all. The panic we noticed earlier is a little less.
Straw prices continue to rise. Last week straw prices rose sharply and that development continues this week. The DCA Indicative Price for wheat and barley straw this week amounts to €155 per tonne. An insider speaks of a tragedy. In many places the yield would be half of what it was last year. According to an insider, the price would only increase further. It is a problem to obtain straw, the supply is scarce. If there is anything, according to one contributor, the majority comes from France and some from Germany. But if prices rise further, we can even look for it in Spain.
The DCA Indicative Price for spent grains moves with the market and rises in price to €3,45 per tonne. Contributors currently call the market stable. Given the demand, this indicates a stable to rising price, according to an insider. On the other hand, the protein market could put pressure on the price of spent grain in the future, or rather: pull it down. For example, there will be a record harvest expected of soy.
Grass seed hay is currently very difficult to obtain, says an insider. There would be little to no trade in it. The DCA Indicative Price for grass seed hay remains the same at €185 per tonne.

As far as meadow hay is concerned, the DCA Indicative Price remains stable at €190 per tonne. Demand is currently very low, and trade is not booming.
