Agribusiness Award launched for the sixth time

26 August 2024

The Agribusiness Award, the prize for innovations for or from the agricultural sector, is starting for the sixth year in a row. ABN AMRO emphasises the importance of innovation and has been the co-initiator and co-organiser of the Agribusiness Award since this year. Attention is not only paid to technical innovations but also to system or chain innovations such as promising market concepts.

Companies from the Dutch agribusiness and food chain are once again cordially invited to register for the Award with their innovation of a product, service or business process. Registration is open 26 August has started.

ABN AMRO wants to collaborate with Boerenbusiness.nl as exclusive media partner, highlighting the innovative power of Dutch agribusiness through the Agribusiness Award. Any company with an innovative product, service, chain collaboration or business process can register. There are some important conditions. For example, the innovation must provide a proven advantage for the Dutch farmer or horticulturalist and the entry must be relatively new, but have already been launched on the market.

The previous winners of the Agribusiness Award are BB Leap (2023), Andela Techniek & Innovation (2022), Lely (2021), Limagrain Netherlands (2020) and CowManager (2019). The jury emphasizes that it starts with a clean slate every year. Companies that participated in recent years can also register again.

Every year the jury receives a large number of great applications, but sometimes these are submitted too early and are not yet ready for practice. As a result, the jury cannot nominate the application. The jury would like to see these contenders again. This also applies to previously submitted innovations that have been changed or improved.

Professional jury chooses the winner
In addition to the Award itself, the winner of the Agribusiness Award will also receive a cash prize of €10.000. In addition, the prize includes a media package worth €3.500 to spend at Boerenbusiness and ABN AMRO will support the winner with, for example, knowledge, expertise and network in the field of innovation for an extra push towards the future. The Award will be presented during the Insights Live seminar at the ABN AMRO open in Ahoy on February 4, 2025.

"ABN AMRO would like to underline the importance of innovation in making our food production more sustainable across the board. This ranges from technical innovations and system innovations to new market concepts. Through this Award we want to highlight the gems of Dutch innovative power and help the sector through inspiring examples and making visible what is possible," says Pierre Berntsen, Director of Agricultural Companies at ABN AMRO.

The Agribusiness Award is intended as an appreciation for a product, service or chain concept that realizes benefits for Dutch farmers or horticulturists with a new product or service. For companies that inspire the sector with their innovative strength and social involvement and take it to a higher level.
