Stichting Stikstofclaim (SSC) has asked the ministry of LVVN to be recognized as the official representative of farmers' interests where manure and nitrogen are concerned. It believes it is entitled to this because of more than 3.000 affiliated companies.
With this number of members, the foundation is one of the largest agricultural interest groups in the Netherlands. In recent years, the foundation has played an important role as a party or mediator in matters concerning nitrogen and manure and has won several legal proceedings on behalf of farmers and fellow organisations and has managed to ensure that legislation was amended.
During the foundation's anniversary meeting, mayor Ostendorp of the municipality of Buren presented a royal distinction to former chairman John Spithoven (photo). He particularly praised Spithoven's dedication and enormous dossier knowledge for the interests of the agricultural sector.
