Belarus sells agricultural products, such as dairy, via an online exchange to various countries in the world, including Mongolia and Jordan. This is reported by media from the Eastern European country. Export of food to the world market is not prohibited, but Russia and its ally Belarus have found it more difficult to export since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Belarus has therefore set up an online platform called BUCK (Belarus Universal Commodity Exchange). In May of this year, the first dairy business was done with a client from Mongolia. Since then, the trade has developed and dairy products are also sold in the Middle East.
The trade is not limited to dairy or other foodstuffs. Belarus is also a major exporter of wood in all its forms and agricultural machinery. BUCE is represented in several European countries and is also promoted through the country's embassies.
Until the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2021, Belarus was an emerging exporter of all kinds of dairy products to the world market. Since then, exports have largely been limited to neighboring Russia, but trade relations with it have been difficult at times.
The Belarusian product is not widely accepted everywhere on the world market, because of the sometimes different standards. But for various countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East it is indeed an interesting alternative to often more expensive Western product.
