Agrifirm will remain a member of Nevedi, the trade association for the Dutch compound feed sector, as of 2025. In mid-October, the feed cooperative from Apeldoorn cancelled its membership together with ForFarmers, although Agrifirm kept the door ajar at the time. After intensive discussions with the Nevedi board in recent months, Agrifirm is now reversing this decision. This was announced by the company's spokesperson when asked.
In a response, Agrifirm states that clear agreements have been made about the efficiency of the organisation, the method of management and the strategic focus. In the coming months, Nevedi will further elaborate and implement these agreements. This commitment gives Agrifirm sufficient confidence to continue the membership in the new year. The feed cooperative states that it attaches great value to a well-functioning trade association. Agrifirm's major point of criticism was mainly about the contribution, which the company found to be too high. It is not known whether new agreements have been made about this. The decision may also be influenced by the fact that Agrifirm recently became a new CEO who may have a different view of things than his predecessor.
Now that Agrifirm remains a member, this means that only ForFarmers will be a member as of 2025 steps out of Nevedi. In contrast to Agrifirm, the listed feed company spoke of an irreversible decision in October. Like Agrifirm, ForFarmers does not find Nevedi's use effective enough, the spokesperson said at the time.
Coverage down in 2025
For Nevedi it will be a great relief that Agrifirm will remain a member, although the departure of market leader ForFarmers is nevertheless a blow. In mid-October, Nevedi director Henk Flipsen acknowledged that the budget for 2025 was already ready, but that he could start over because of the cancellations.
The trade association has had a coverage of 95% of the feed companies in recent years. Terminations practically only occurred when members were taken over by other members. With the departure of ForFarmers, this coverage will decrease significantly next year.
