In Germany, another company has been cleared due to a suspicion of FMD. It concerns a company with goats in Werneuchen, Landkreis Barnim. This is also in the state of Brandenburg. The company is currently being investigated by the authorities. Werneuchen is located slightly north of Hönow, where the first infection was and in the surveillance zone of Hönow.

In Werneuchen, it was said to be an outbreak on a goat farm. That has now been cleared. The samples from the killed animals are still being examined by the Friedrich Loeffler Institute.
Heiko Terno, chairman of the farmers' association in Brandenburg, speaks of a serious situation that far-reaching consequences has for the agricultural sector. According to him, the infected animals on the affected farms may have been sick for three weeks and during that time no measures were taken to prevent the spread.
On Thursday morning, the state's agriculture minister said that no further infections had been detected following last Friday's outbreak.
The FMD outbreak in Germany is having a major impact on the meat and dairy markets and is putting pressure on pig and milk prices.
