Heavy sentences for death of Maas van den Heuvel
The Overijssel court has sentenced six men to long prison sentences in connection with the death of Maas van den Heuvel on October 20, 2023. Van den Heuvel died at home in Kampen during a robbery.
The three men, aged 23 and 24, receive prison sentences of 18, 23 and 24 years. Two other men were involved in the preparation of the robbery. They receive prison sentences of 16 and 18 years. The three main suspects were executed for manslaughter. In addition, the surviving relatives receive compensation of almost €88.000.
Second robbery
The group did not take any loot from Van den Heuvel, after which they carried out a new violent robbery in Epe, Gelderland, in December 2023. Two people were seriously injured. That also played a role in the court's decision.
Two months after the fatal robbery in Kampen picked up the police already have a suspect. According to the court, there is a lot of evidence in the file, which showed that the robbery was planned and thought out in advance.
