With nitrogen fertilizers that deliver the same yield and quality with lower CO2 emissions, OCI wants to support farmers in reducing emissions on the farm. "With every step towards sustainability, quality comes first," says Ruben Daniels of OCI. He talks about the new product lines, Nutramon Novo and Dynamon Novo.
"What is striking about Nutramon Novo and Dynamon Novo is the significantly lower CO2-emissions from the production process, compared to conventional fertilizers," says Ruben. The reason: these Novo fertilizers are produced with biomethane instead of natural gas. This biomethane is extracted from biogenic waste and residual flows from the agricultural sector. "And while CO₂ emissions are reduced by more than 60% thanks to the use of biogas, the composition and quality remain the same compared to conventional fertilizers."
Achieving more sustainable results
Both Nutramon Novo and Dynamon Novo are ISCC+ certified. Ruben: "This guarantees a transparent and traceable production process, based on renewable raw materials. That production process is important for reducing CO2-the farmer's footprint, because 30% to 40% of total fertilizer emissions are released during production and the rest during use on the land."
"With both product lines, farmers can reduce their impact on the environment and contribute to a more sustainable food system," Ruben continues. The fertilizer granules are produced in the Netherlands and are identical in quality and ease of use to conventional Nutramon and Dynamon fertilizers. "The granules are hard, uniform and lump-free," says Ruben. "That ensures smooth spreading with a spreading width of more than 50 meters. By spreading as widely as possible, you prevent compaction as much as possible."

"Nutramon Novo is a calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) with lower CO2-footprint, suitable for all crops," says Ruben. According to him, the distinguishing feature of this fertilizer lies in more than just the added orange granules. "Nutramon Novo has a high quality and excellent spreadability. The optimal 50/50 ratio of ammonium and nitrate ensures high nitrogen efficiency." The product also contains magnesium and thus contributes to the magnesium requirement of crops. The predictable effect ensures an optimal fertilization result.
…and Dynamon Novo!
"Nitrogen-sulphur fertilizer Dynamon Novo is also suitable for all crops. The product is characterized by a 60% lower CO2-footprint. Thanks to biogas certificates, the impact of production is significantly reduced. And of course the yellow grain, which guarantees recognisability and a consistently high quality." Dynamon Novo offers a unique combination of sulphur fertilisation, with an optimal 4-to-1 ratio of nitrogen and sulphur. In addition, the product contains a 50/50 ratio of ammonium and nitrate. "This contributes to an efficient absorption of nutrients. The targeted supply of sulphur is the basis for a high and qualitatively good yield," concludes Ruben.
