Normally, spreading manure extends well into spring, depending on weather conditions and plot availability. This season is different, however: due to the prolonged dry weather in March, spreading could be done non-stop. There is talk that sales are progressing at record speed, according to insiders. Sometimes this leads to regional shortages, as we wrote last week. This is solved by driving manure from other parts of the country to the south.

The expectation is that the rush will be over by mid-April. Much placement space is currently being filled because the conditions are optimal for spreading, according to intermediaries. The idea is that this development will leave little placement space this summer. The question is what consequences this will have for price developments. DCA collection contributions
For the time being, manure prices in the Netherlands generally continue to follow the downward trend of recent times. This week, we do see a more stabilizing trend in the price decrease. The DCA collection contribution for pig manure in the South of the Netherlands amounts to €30,83 this week. In the middle of the Netherlands, this is €34. This is a price decrease of €1,02 and €0,67 compared to last week. In the Tilburg region, the price of pig manure is falling below €30 for the first time.

The collection contributions for cattle manure are respectively €26,50 and €30,17 per cubic meter for the south and middle of the Netherlands. This is a price decrease of €0,33 and €1 compared to last week. In the regions of Barneveld and Markelo, cattle manure prices also fall below €30 for the first time.
