1 May 2025 - Matthijs Bremer

Plukon achieved higher turnover in 2024, according to the recently filed annual accounts of parent company Bankiva of the Chamber of Commerce. Bankiva's turnover in 2024 was €3,35 billion, an increase of 8,45% compared to 2023. That year, turnover was 3,09 billion dollars. Net profit increased even more, by 28,1% to €118 million. The growth can be attributed in part to various acquisitions throughout Europe. For example, Plukon acquired several companies in Spain, Poland and Denmark last year. The acquisition in Denmark is particularly notable, as Plukon was not previously active there. The move is part of the company's strategy to produce as locally as possible, as CEO Kees Kraijenoord announced in a interview with Boerenbusiness.

Spain and Poland are gaining importance
In the Netherlands, turnover in 2024 increased by 7,4% compared to the previous year, to approximately €926,5 million. Germany remained the company's second market. There, turnover increased slightly more strongly by 9,9%, to €744,5 million. This growth is linked to changes in the German diet: poultry meat is rapidly gaining popularity there, at the expense of pork.

In France, turnover fell by 4,5% to €587,5 million. A decline was also recorded on the Belgian market, the company's fourth largest market: a decrease of 3,7% to €226,5 million. The largest increases, meanwhile, occurred on the Spanish and Polish markets, as a result of recent acquisitions. In Spain, turnover rose by 49,5% to around €210,5 million, while in Poland growth of 27,9% was achieved to €152,5 million.

Trade shows strongest growth
The largest sales segment in 2024 remained retail, where turnover increased by 8,5% to €1,9 billion. However, the strongest growth was achieved in deliveries to other companies: this segment saw turnover increase by 13,9% to €937 million. In the Quick Service Restaurants segment, on the other hand, turnover fell slightly by 6,9% to €265 million. In the other food service channels, the group recorded growth of 6,4% to €191 million.
