Westfleisch shows interest in German Vion locations

The German competition authority prohibited the acquisition of Vion's southern German slaughterhouses by Germany's largest slaughterhouse, Tönnies. The decision was made because the company would gain too much market share with the acquisition.

Uffelmann indicates he may be interested in a (partial) acquisition. He also states that the scenarios have not yet been explored. The CEO is not yet clear on whether it will involve the acquisition of one or more locations, or a complete acquisition.

The company's public expression of interest in the acquisition is quite remarkable. Generally, companies choose not to respond to such inquiries.
