News Quotes 500

These are the richest in the agricultural sector

28 October 2025 - Linda van Eekeres

Agricultural multimillionaires and billionaires generally fared relatively well in 2025, according to the new Quote 500. Some became even richer, such as Piet de Bruijne of Farm Frites, whose wealth is once again rising sharply. In the dairy sector, Jan Anker of A-ware has made a significant jump. It's striking that meat processing often saw a small percentage decline, but there too, there are gains.

There's also a newcomer from the agricultural and horticultural sector in the Quote 500: Leo Hoogweg of Hoogweg Paprikakwekerijen in Flevoland. He debuts at number 401 with €180 million.

Wijnand Pon remains the first agricultural billionaire to appear in the Quote 500. With a net worth of €5 billion, he remains the fifth richest person in the Netherlands. His wealth, earned in the agricultural sector as well as with cars and excavators, increased by 11,1%. However, this is because Quote discovered he receives more in dividends than they previously estimated.

animal feed
Members of the Fentener van Vlissingen family of SHV, the parent company of animal feed manufacturer Nutreco, among others, are traditionally spread across the list. At number 10, we find the first: John Fentener van Vlissingen with €2,9 billion. Alicia and Tannetta are jointly at number 30 with €1,8 billion. Annemiek, Cisca, and Marthe follow in 38th place.e position with a combined €1,6 billion. Nicole, Robert Jan and Brigitte are in 79th place with €700 millione place. Jobien, Co, and Koen de Heus have also become rich with animal feed. They are ranked 20e place and their combined wealth increases by 4,8% to €2,2 billion.

Potatoes
The next incredibly wealthy Dutchman is just shy of becoming a billionaire: Kees Meijer of Meijer Frozen Foods, who was bought out by Lamb Weston in 2022. He remains at number 53 on the Quote 500 and his net worth remains unchanged at €975 million. Piet de Bruijne of Farm Frites's net worth rose from €215 million to €400 million last year, and now he's seen it rise by over 21% to €485 million. This moves him up 20 spots to number 117. Gerard Kroef of potato processor Peka Kroef is gaining €10 million, bringing his net worth to €185 million.

Meat processing
The meat processing industry performed relatively less well in 2025, except for the Van Drie family of the VanDrie Group, whose wealth increased by 6%. Erik van Loon (Van Loon Group) lost €15 million but can still count on €460 million. The wealth of Marc and Addy van Rooi, owners of the eponymous slaughterhouse, also fell slightly, from €466 million to €440 million. Jack Hazenbroek rose from 240th to 153rd place, but that's only because the magazine now estimates the sale of the slaughtering machine company Foodmate to be higher. Egbert van Kruiswijk of Westfort saw his wealth drop by over 3%, dropping from 460th to 493rd place. This puts him at risk of dropping out of the top 500 of the richest people, with €140 million.

Dairy
Bart van der Meer of dairy company Ausnutria suffers the same fate, at 494th place, although his wealth does increase by almost 4% to €140 million. Business in the dairy sector has certainly improved. Frank van Stipdonk, who recently stepped down as CEO of Interfood (of which he remains a majority shareholder), saw his wealth grow by €35 million to €440 million. Jan Anker of Royal A-ware has made a huge jump on Quote's list, jumping from 232nd to 176th place with a wealth increase of almost 38%. The magazine considers the company's profit of €81 million in 2023 reason to conclude that it was somewhat too conservative with the estimate. This means a 'correction' of €100 million to €365 million. Jaap Vreugdenhil of Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods, on the other hand, remains at the same level as last year with €295 million. This does, however, cause him to drop in the ranking, from 209th to 229th.

New and no more
Some people have also disappeared from the list, either because they were surpassed in wealth or because they passed away, such as seed breeder Simon Groot and Joost van Loon of Interovo Egg Group. His sons are taking over the reins at the latter. Greenhouse builder Wouter Kuiper, who was on the 475th spot last year,e spot with €140 million has been removed from the list this year. The Zandbergen family makes its comeback in the family top 50e place. Quote writes that they are from meat supplier Jan Zandbergen Group. However, this family has contacted Boerenbusiness because they don't recognize themselves in this. They suspect it concerns another Zandbergen family from the meat processing industry that was previously on the list.
