UienConnect's off-shore pool for yellow seed onions has come out remarkably close to last season. The three collaborating commissioning companies faced sufficient challenges in the market and the growing season, making the result satisfactory.
The result in the yellow onion pool amounts to €11,02 per 100 kilos. This includes a Global Gap surcharge of ten cents per 100 kilos. This is not much different from a year ago, when €11,11 was achieved.
The average market price in Goes and Emmeloord over the off-land period is €11,27 per 100 kilos, with a spread of €9,61 to €11,86 per 100 kilos.
Solid average result
The collaborating commissioners announced the results to the participating growers on December 1st. Considering the season, they are satisfied with the outcome. The weather conditions, disease pressure, and the market situation have all contributed to the pool achieving what they call a "solid average result."
UienConnect has three onion pools: for yellow seed onions grown in the field and for both yellow and red onions grown dry in the barn. Interested growers can register to participate in the pool for the 2026 harvest year.
