The Stichting Opruiming Remainders of Agricultural Pesticides (STORL) makes it possible for growers and contractors to return plant protection product residues and empty packaging with the STORL-KGA logo to municipal waste depots free of charge.
The municipalities are reimbursed for this by the crop protection companies. What is new is that organized collection campaigns can now also count on financial support.
Stimulating responsible disposal
The objective is to encourage responsible disposal of residues and empty packaging of plant protection products. This is done, among other things, by providing reimbursements to municipalities that collect this material via their recycling center or KCA depot. This concerns empty packaging with the STORL logo Small Hazardous Waste and residues of crop protection products from farmers, horticulturists and contractors.
Collection action
Recently, STORL introduced the possibility to receive compensation for fundraisers. This concerns collection campaigns for empty packaging and remnants that are organized by an LTO organization or CDG-certified distributor together with a waste collector. For example during an open day.
There are, however, conditions for eligibility for reimbursement. These are listed on the website of the STORL, where the registration form can also be found.
