Due to the increased necessary attention for the control of leaf fungi in beets, it is important that the re-entry of treated fields is also taken into account. When removing bolts, the timing of the spraying is hardly taken into account.
Prolonged exposure to fungicide residues present on the beet crop (shortly after application) should be avoided. This risk increases when little or no protective clothing is used (gloves, long-sleeved clothing and trouser legs). This is the case when removing shooters in beets, as this activity is often carried out in fair weather conditions.
Before the spraying
We therefore recommend removing bolts before fungicide spraying. If that is not possible, wait until at least 14 days after spraying. In this way, unnecessary long-term exposure to foliar fungicides can be prevented in a fairly simple way.
When only a single shooter needs to be removed, or when walking through a field to see if foliar fungi re-proliferate, the exposure is so low that there is a negligible risk.A beet field with shooters.
