Current weather conditions are ideal for the development of powdery mildew in carrots. Unlike most other fungal diseases, powdery mildew can develop well with very little moisture. The disease initially manifests itself as a white haze on the leaf.
Ultimately, leaves and stems can be affected to such an extent that death follows. In addition to direct damage, the disease weakens the crop, making it easier for Alternaria to damage the crop later in the cultivation. Tackling powdery mildew can also limit Alternaria infestation.
Rudis WE
Rudis WE is not only very strong preventively against powdery mildew, Rudis WE can also tackle the existing infestation curatively. To keep the foliage package as healthy as possible, it is recommended to use Rudis WE as soon as the first powdery mildew infestation is observed. In practice, an interval of 3 weeks is used. With a high pressure of powdery mildew, the advice is to shorten this to 2 weeks. Rudis WE also has a very strong effect on Sclerotinia and a good side effect on Alternaria.

Serenade
Serenade has a good preventive effect against powdery mildew. This product – based on Bacillus amyloliquefaciens QST 713 – can be used in both regular and organic cultivation. Upon contact, the lipopeptides created during the Serenade production process cause the cells of the fungus to 'puncture', causing it to die. To optimize the distribution on the leaf, it is desirable to add a wetting agent to the Serenade spraying. Serenade is the "green" solution for fungal diseases in carrot cultivation
