25 September 2017

The second round of the SDE+ 3 subsidy scheme will be opened from 26 October to 2017 October. This is to stimulate the production of sustainable energy.

The scheme is intended for companies, institutions and non-profit institutions. The SDE+ scheme is open to the production of:

  • renewable electricity;

  • renewable heat;
  • or a combination of renewable heat and electricity (CHP).

Grant amount
The SDE subsidy consists of a basic amount per unit of energy generated (kWh). A correction amount per unit of energy is deducted from the basic amount. The correction amount is based on the actual energy price and is determined annually (provisionally and definitively).

Regulation will be opened in 3 phases

Phases of the SDE scheme
The SDE scheme will be opened in the autumn in 3 phases. The subsidy budget of €6 billion will be made available in the first phase. If there is a budget remaining after the first phase, the second phase will be opened up. If the budget is exceeded in the first phase, the second phase will not be opened.
