The new 'Recommended List of Winter Wheat Varieties' for the 2018 season has been published. The Variety List contains the results of independent winter wheat variety research at 6 locations in the Netherlands. New varieties on the list include fill wheat 'rgt Salerno' and feed wheat 'Racoon' and 'Daytona'.
Rgt Salerno is the only new filling wheat on the list. This variety scores highly on yellow rust resistance (8,5) and has a high yield potential, both in the untreated and treated trials.
2 new fodder wheat
The LG varieties are in the feed wheat section Daytona* in Raccoon* newly recorded. Daytona is a mid-early wheat, with long, firm straw and a very good yellow rust resistance.
The mid-late Racoon variety is a real low-input variety: it has a wide range of very strong disease resistances, as indicated by its highest yield figures in the trials without disease control.
Rgt Reform: reliable baking wheat
Stay in the baking wheat section rgt reform en Julius at the top when it comes to baking quality. Rgt Reform scores the highest marks on bread and dough quality. In practice, this variety is also extremely reliable in terms of firmness, disease resistance and stable high grain yields with high hectolitre weights, as was also apparent during the 2017 harvest.
