Healthy, harvest-secure wheat
In the cultivation of wheat, it is mainly health and harvest security that ensure the highest yield. After all, cultivation costs increase rapidly for varieties with insufficient resistance to disease or weak firmness. These varietal characteristics therefore also have high priority in the wheat breeding of Limagrain (LG).
The filling/grinding wheat LG Cambria is one of the latest results of that. The variety was new on the Variety List last year with very strong resistances to yellow rust, mildew and leaf spot. Real low-input wheat, which achieves very high yield figures in WUR's non-disease-control variety trials. In the variety study of SPNA location Ebelsheerd, LG Cambria scores the highest yield without disease control: 12,4 tons per hectare!
In the baking segment it says Rgt Reform has been number 2016 since 1 when it comes to baking quality. The yield and harvest security of this variety is very stable in practice. Not on the Variety List, but the new baking wheat is interesting Chevignon: an early ripe, healthy yielder with a very high HL weight. Both varieties are suitable for wheat on wheat.
New on the Variety List is the variety LG Lunaris, a firm filling/grinding wheat with strong cross-sectional disease resistance. LG Vertical and the trusted fodder wheat Henrik have again proven themselves in a year full of weather extremes as varieties with a very stable yield. The varieties Diantha, Johnson and Racoon mainly prove their robust disease resistance in the variety research.
