NeVaCon: melting pot of experience, knowledge and inspiration

June 4, 2018

Current technological and climatic developments are fundamentally changing society. The real estate sector cannot escape digitization, computerization, artificial intelligence and sustainability either.

Written by: Hans van der Ploeg, director of the trade association VBO Makelaar

In a circular and 0's and 1's-driven economy, there is still room for brokers, appraisers, rental intermediaries and other real estate experts who understand their profession and know how to add value to it. Instead of seeing these changes as a threat, you can also move with them. In fact, you can lead the way. Friday, June 22, VBO Makelaar wants, together with media partners real estate journal en Land market, inspire real estate experts to do so during NeVaCon (the Dutch Real Estate Congress).

NeVaCon 2018 is not just about networking and acquiring knowledge about new real estate trends. It's about experiencing and doing. Experience what blockchain can mean in real estate. Or, how sustainability can be converted into new revenue models. Test whether the office is really fully AVG-proof. Energy-efficient homes that have to be separated from gas and that build in a circular and climate-adaptive way require new knowledge and insights. And for a culture change, also among consumers.

Customer journey
In the end, it's all about that consumer, the customer. How do you reach the customer? How do you then use the knowledge and a business attitude to guide the customer with empathic ability to the right, sustainable home or work environment. During NeVaCon 2018 we will extensively discuss marketing, social media, storytelling, upselling and customer journeys.

What does the customer need and when?

With all these technological developments and all the acquired data, we are gaining more and more insight into the entire customer journey. What does the customer need and when? Neuroscience also provides us with new insights; how is information in the brain translated into value and motivation? Brain scanners make it clear how people make choices and how these choices are effectively influenced. During the Neuromarketing session, Dr. Roeland Dietvorst explains how to communicate convincingly.

Not just transmit
Buyers have to make quick choices in the current housing market. A seller's market entails its own morals, also for brokers and appraisers. The current real estate market and the technological challenges facing the real estate expert have inspired us to create a completely new conference format. It's going to be a bit of a festival.

Of course information is shared, but it is not just sending. We count on active participation from the public in the workshops and the panel discussion with our stakeholders. Who has an opinion about the building inspection, the role of the broker and the new-build market? Someone who at least has an opinion about this is professor Peter Boelhouwer. In his session Developments in the housing market, he certainly discusses the new-build problem.

Media partners Grondmarkt and Vastgoedjournaal
During NeVaCon it is not just about the housing market. Real estate experts in commercial and agricultural real estate also get their money's worth. For example, Grondmarkt organizes sessions about the digital age for farmers and the financing of agricultural land. Vastgoedjournaal organizes sessions about the future of development finance and the buy-to-let market. Moreover, we are counting on a very pleasant closing drink from Vastgoedjournaal, as we are used to from them in the Vastgoedclub.

Translate to practice
In short: a new conference format, in a challenging market full of innovations. You put together your program with more than 25 sub-sessions, workshops, Q&As, a panel discussion and sufficient networking moments. In this way we hope to offer an interactive experience that resonates in daily practice. If we can inspire visitors to innovative entrepreneurship for an afternoon, then our mission has been accomplished.
