Almost 50% energy from renewable sources

21 April 2020 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 3 comments

Almost half of the total energy production was supplied yesterday (April 20) by wind turbines, solar panels and biomass plants, including manure digesters.

This is evident from figures from Energieopwek.nl. Solar panels accounted for a share of 14,5%, onshore wind turbines provided 19,9% of the total energy production, offshore wind energy 6,0% and biomass 9,0%.

Coal and gas share record low
Added together, this is 49,4% of the total, a record. Natural gas accounted for 18%, nuclear energy 3,9%, coal 5,4% and hydropower 0,1%. On April 20, 18% of the energy consumed was imported from abroad. This import share is relatively large. The combined share of gas and coal in the total amounted to 24%. This share has never been this low before.

The energy market continues to string together records, which is partly the result of the sharp drop in demand for fossil energy due to the corona crisis. This increases the share of sustainable energy production in the total.

If the electricity price is negative for 6 hours, the SDE+ subsidy will lapse

Negative electricity price
The share of solar energy also broke a national record, following the national record set on Sunday (April 19). Never before has 15% of the total energy consumption in one day been supplied by solar panels. This also means that wholesale energy prices were negative for 4 hours. At 6 hours negative electricity price the SDE+ subsidy will expire and the costs are offset against the revenues from renewable energy sources, barring exceptions.

New record
Today, energy production by solar panels and wind turbines is again heading for a record and the energy price is negative for several hours. The series of record figures is really exceptional, not only because of the corona crisis, which has caused the demand for fossil energy to disappear, but also because of the weather. The combination of the number of 100% sunshine hours with the strong wind occurs on average only a few days a year.

Here we have now is a nice term for the: Urgenda Economy

Now it is clear exactly what is still possible with 75% of the fossil energy consumption of 1990.

Nitrogen problem, renewable nonsense/unconscious fellow humans?

reply:
THORIUM REACTOR

but this is not a land grab and no income for our aforementioned billionaires.

Burning XNUMX-year-old renewable trees in seconds:
Keep the population unaware: (first the solution then the problem).

This is an answer to the question why Thorium reactor in Petten (due to Dutch subsidy) remains "experimental", (molten salt power plant is a nuclear power plant without its drawbacks)

In 1954, two experimental molten salt reactors were already operational in the United States.
