The SDE++ subsidy is popular. The first round of applications for this expanded Renewable Energy Incentive Scheme has yielded 4.112 applications, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) reported. The total value thus exceeds the budget.
From 24 November to 17 December it was possible to apply for a subsidy for the SDE++ for the first time. Solar panels were popular with 3.939 applications. During the first round, a subsidy of €6,4 billion was requested, of which €2,4 billion for solar panels. The total value of the applications thus exceeds the budget of €5 billion.
CO2 reduction
SDE++ is intended for a cost-effective way of reducing CO2. The scheme has been expanded (in addition to renewable energy) with CO2-reducing techniques. For example, heat pumps, electric boilers and hydrogen production by electrolysis are now also eligible for subsidy. To prevent the entire budget from going to 1 sector or technology, limits have been set in the scheme. These apply, for example, to specific technologies, such as solar panels and onshore wind energy.
