Pact for trading platforms in green certificates

3 February 2021 - Jurphaas Lugtenburg

LTO Companies and energy consultancy Waltmans have merged the trading platforms NLgroen, MEGAwind and Energie van Boeren into NLgroen BV on 1 January. The companies announced this in a press release on Feb. Both companies will take a 2% interest in NLgroen.

In addition to being reimbursed for the electricity supplied, companies that generate sustainable energy also receive Guarantees of Origin (GoOs), Certificates of Origin (COs) and carbon credits. The certificates can be traded separately from the flow. At small producers, it often happens that the GoOs are automatically transferred to the electricity company.

Earnings model for sustainability
Entrepreneurs with an installation for the generation of sustainable energy can register their installation with CertiQ for the issuance of GoOs. NLgroen negotiates with energy suppliers, traders and energy advisors to achieve the best price for the generator's certificates.

More than 70% farmers and horticulturists
More than 2.000 producers of solar energy, wind energy and energy from biomass sell their green certificates through NLgroen. More than 70% of the certificates traded via NLgroen come from farmers and horticulturists.

Patrick Bramer, general manager of LTO Companies: "With our investment in NLgroen, we expect to offer a growing number of agricultural energy producers a revenue model to make their business operations more sustainable. We see great added value in scaling up to a larger whole in the trade market. in green certificates for, among other things, energy."
