LTO sounds the alarm about capacity on the power grid

12 May 2021 - Jurphaas Lugtenburg - 1 reaction

Dozens and possibly hundreds of farmers and horticulturists are getting into trouble due to a lack of capacity on the electricity grid, according to LTO. LTO Noord director Nico Verduin: "You would have invested a lot of money to contribute to sustainability and then be told that you can't do anything with your solar panels."

More and more farmers are investing in solar panels on the roofs of their barns and stables. In many cases, a heavier connection is required to be able to supply the generated power to the electricity grid. This requires effort from the network operators. The grid operators are also obliged to purchase the generated electricity. According to LTO Noord, this is not possible in many cases.

Farmers and gardeners can't lose electricity
De capacity the electricity grid has been a concern for some time. Solar panels are an important element in the energy transition. But due to grid problems, new installations cannot be connected or the power of existing panels cannot be taken off. Dozens of farmers and horticulturists have already reported such problems to LTO.

"This is a very big problem and it hits our farmers and horticulturists raw," says Verduin. "We call on grid operators to expand the electricity grid and to ensure that farmers and horticulturists can use their electricity. We also want them to compensate the victims."

No connection after subsidy allocation
There are 3 pressure situations that are common at the moment. There are companies that have a connection but cannot supply all the power due to a transport limitation. There are also companies that have previously received a commitment that a connection is possible, but where connection is not possible after the subsidy has been allocated. And there are companies that cannot install solar panels at all due to a negative transport restriction.

Then you put a few less, or east/west arrangement. Then you catch the peak.
People often act so hopelessly as if you can't do anything anymore. Just think carefully about what is possible.
You can no longer respond.
