Nearly 3.500 sustainable projects have received an SDE++ 2020 subsidy decision in recent months. In total, a maximum of €4,6 billion in subsidy is available for these projects. Solar panels continue to be popular, but there are more projects that are targeting the budget.
A new feature of the SDE++ is that, in addition to the production of sustainable energy, CO2 reducing techniques such as capture and storage, electric boilers and residual heat are also eligible for the subsidy. If all projects are fully realized, they will deliver an annual CO2 reduction of 3,29 megatons.
Not fully completed
The assessment of the subsidy applications has not yet been fully completed, but most subsidy decisions have been issued by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The vast majority of subsidy decisions have been issued for solar PV projects (solar panels). Of these 3.424 projects, 97% is for solar panels on roofs. The largest part of the subsidy pot has been allocated to the Porthos project in the port of Rotterdam. This project will receive a maximum of €2,1 billion.
"It is also positive that we support more than 3.300 sun-on-roof projects with subsidy, so that we make optimal use of the scarce space in the Netherlands and that companies and organizations can contribute to the energy transition with their own roof," writes Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Climate, in a letter to the House of Representatives.
