It is over. On Wednesday 18 December we held the National Economic Agricultural Congress in Amersfoort. With an exciting program, an interesting audience from farmers and business, beautiful winners of the Boerenbusiness Awards and extensive networking drinks.

1. Jan-Kees Goet (LNV): 'Choosing the path that causes the least pain'
Farmers are looking for certainty and perspective. "To do this, they must work on more mutual cooperation", says Jan-Kees Goet, the secretary-general of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. He replaced agriculture minister Carola Schouten.
2. Cor Pierik (CBS): Halving livestock costs at least €5 billion
Livestock has an annual production value of €10,5 billion. "Having the Dutch livestock herd therefore costs at least €5 billion," said Cor Pierik, agricultural economist at Statistics Netherlands (CBS).
3. Wageningen UR: 'Feeling for the market is extremely important'
The only constant of the agricultural sector is that farmers have to change constantly. How can you keep your head above water in those times? Jos Verstegen, Alfons Beldman and Jan Willem van der Schans (from Wageningen Economic Research) provided an answer there.
4. Willem Middelkoop (stock market guru): 'A major shortage of raw materials is near'
In an inspired, powerful and sometimes disconcerting presentation, multi-talented Willem Middelkoop guided visitors through the shadowy world behind the commodity trade and which forces influence it. Middelkoop is very positive towards the profitability of the agricultural sector.
5. Impact Award: Bart Kemp wins first Impact Award
Bart Kemp, initiator of one of the largest farmer protests in agricultural history, has won the Impact Award 2019. He was presented with the Impact Award for his special effort for the benefit of Dutch farmers and horticulturists.
6. CowManager wins Agribusiness Award 2019
CowManager has won the 2019 Agribusiness Award. CowManager has developed a method to detect sick cows, heat and nutritional disorders on a dairy farm at an early stage.
