Even after the snow last weekend, work is still being done on the land. Like spreading solid manure here in Rhenen. Photo: N. van der Boom
Contractor Rauw from Achterberg (Rhenen) swears by so-called agro trucks. On this Ginaf X 5450 S is a BLW manure tank, which provides supply to a self-propelled vehicle. Photo: N. van der Boom
Spreading fertilizer on a plot of tulip bulbs at Nijenhuis Bloembollen from Espel. Straw has been driven over the beds. That prevents frost damage but, more importantly, it prevents waterlogging on the light soil. Photo: N. van der Boom
Contractor Van Dun from Espel uses two combinations to spread compost on a plot of green manure. Photo: N. van der Boom
Injecting slurry on a high-lying piece of arable land in Luttelgeest, NOP, by contractor Kalteren from Blankenham. Photo: E. Koolhof
Not all slurry is spread, including solid manure. Organic farm De Eerste from Marknesse is working here. Photo: E. Koolhof
The chicory harvest has a very long campaign during the 2016-17 season. Transport company Van der Velde from Nieuwe Pekela loads the chicory pens. Before they leave Groningen for Brabant, they are first stripped of the last tare. Photo: H. Deuling
In addition to sugar beets and chicory, the same transport company is also active in starch potatoes. They are now being loaded from the shed. Photo: H. Deuling

13 February 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness
