In New Zealand, the grain harvest is in full swing, like here at an arable farm in Canterbury. The yield is good. This plot yielded 11 tons of wheat for seed. Photo: O. Percy

Chopping grass in County Wicklow, Ireland last May. In between showers, dry moments must be taken. The most natural thing in the world for the Irish. Photo: N. van der Boom
This Irish dairy farmer chops the grass himself, together with his neighbours. There is no such thing as a long drying time in the country. Mowing, raking and chopping. The weather doesn't always cooperate. Certainly not in this mountainous area. Photo: N. van der Boom

The combines roll in New Zealand

23 February 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

While you have probably just thrown a splash of water from the rain gauge in the Netherlands, and much more is on the way, the combines are rolling on the other side of the world. In New Zealand, the wheat and grass seed harvest is in full swing.

When conditions allow it in the Netherlands, it is mainly slurry that plays a role. And if it rains again, we can always go to a show.
