After the war, wheat threshing on the island of Walcheren by contractor Louwerse from Serooskerke. After the island was inundated, the bottom remained swampy for a long time. This Cletrac crawler tractor for the Allis-Chalmers Allcrop combine is not a luxury. Photo: H. Louwerse

An impressive Werklust WK 1 self-propelled vehicle, which contractor Kurstjens from Grubbenvorst had specially built. Among other things, to drive out betacal. After a long wandering past Dutch contractors, the vehicle is now on its way to Suriname. Photo: J. Steeghs
In the south of the Netherlands, the name Kurstjens is still synonymous with the three-axle carriers and hooklift carriers that still play an important role at many contracting companies. Here's the very first the company built. Photo: J. Steeghs

Enjoying bygone days with old photos

6 March 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

While spring is still a while away, we can look back nicely 'in the old box' with photos of bygone times. From the fledgling Flevopolder, or the island of Walcheren, which had a difficult time after the war.

All images that show how agriculture has developed enormously in seven decades.
